Healing Anxiety and Depression

We continually search for ways to maintain well-being, but this implies that we need to actively work on attaining balance between family, relationships and work. we need to effectively manage all that contributes to stress and all else that works to make us anxious / depressed. In most cases we are in a weak emotional state and more vulnerable to an attack from surrounding negative energies which drain us of energy. There are however, some basic ways to assist us to become stronger and less vulnerable. Some of these are:

1. Feeling that you area team-player: It is human nature to want to be a part of society and benefit from social contact which contributes to your sense of self- esteem. Make the time and effort to connect to others who surround you.Do not shut yourself out. Form part of a group or social club that speaks to your heart. Smile more often.

2. Be alert and take note: Be conscious of the here and now as it builds your self-esteem and combats depression and anxiety. Focus your attention on your surroundings and practice that conscience. Take note of what you see, smell and hear. When this is done often, it brings a lot of benefits to the user.

3. Learn: Decide to learn something new. It gives you self-confidence. This does not necessarily mean that you have to go back to school; it can be doing something which interests you but which you have never tried to do before because you did not know how. Learning takes care of insecurities and you will see that you are capable of handling the task at hand after you have learnt how to do it.

4. Be active: It only takes ten minutes of activity to reduce your levels of anxiety or depression. It does not have to be hard labour. Choose the activity you wish to practice and try to do it five times per week. Walk, jog, ride a bicycle or practice in active games with friends or family, gardening or dancing.

5. Donate: Give your time to someone, it is the most precious gift you can give to someone as it is not a material one and one you can never get back; it is selfless and very soul-gratifying.It is good to give. Offer a compliment where it is well deserved or just a kind word to someone in need, you will be building their self-esteem and in turn receive the same energy from the Universe to benefit you too.

The Attitude of Gratitude

Every challenging situation contains the gift of a valuable lesson. It is up to us to learn the lesson, appreciate its content and feel gratitude for what it has taught us.

In order to improve our lives, make them more joyful, healthier and abundant on every level, we should keep a gratitude journal. At the end of each day, write down three things you are grateful for. This practice increases your focus on positive events to write down in your journal and trains your mind to become more positive and appreciative.

Give thanks from the heart, as this energy of healing flows from that chakra to expand throughout your Being, activating positive responses from others as well as the universal energy, to bless you more abundantly. In your gratitude affirmations, do not forget to thank your physical body for being the vehicle that carries your soul in this lifetime and for assisting you to complete your mission.

Make a gratitude box and fill it with gratitude affirmation cards, create your own and each day draw one card and use that affirmation for the day.

Gratitude is a key to abundance, which unlocks doors to great resources from the Universe to bless you on your life's journey.

Leaving Your Comfort Zone

Our behaviours from the past dictate the boundaries of our comfort zone. We are not born with an instruction manual with rules for our day-to-day lives, enabling us to have a smooth sail.

We develop our own habits that make us feel grounded and comfortable enabling us to go on without fear. Although transformation always has a certain degree of discomfort, we know that it will also bring about gained wisdom which will prove beneficial in the long run.

The discomfort we feel when we leave our usual comfort zone to experience new projects, will gradually diminish as we adjust to new realities, and we then understand that it is a small price to pay for our soul's evolution in our life's journey.

The current situation we find ourselves in, at any given time, is an indication of past events which served a purpose back then and empowered us to cope with challenges. As time moves on, we then realize that we feel discontent with life, and that is a signal to move out of the comfort zone a little and do things differently in order to evolve further. It is best to do this at our own pace in order to feel more empowered as we go along and not feel so shocked with sudden changes.

Whether you have a fear of spending time outdoors, travelling to new destinations or socializing more often, try out the easiest of your challenges and move onto the greater ones once you adjust to them. It will empower you with a resolve to grow and evolve and not give you too great a discomfort.

Whole-Self Healing

The emotional body sends out triggers of imbalance to the physical body resulting in pain and illness on the physical body. Treat your emotions and the results will surprise you.

Harmonious flow of energy brings about a sense of overall well being, however, when there is an imbalance between the mental and physical bodies, they tend to react against each other, provoking the organs to slow down and in turn, causing illness, for the being to be compelled to rest and re-set the emotions and the cause of imbalance. Ongoing negative emotions such as anger, sadness, fear, stress, etc, can cause toxic energy to be channelled into the body. A full recovery from illnesses stemming from the emotional body, will mean that the body will need to undergo treatment that addresses the underlying emotional causes as well as the physical manifestations of energy clearing.

Intense emotions are held in the body's organs, grief is held in the lungs, anger in the liver, worry sits in the stomach and fear in the kidneys. Coughs and bronchitis may signify that the physical body is clearing away grief. Treating the whole self can empower you to determine the root cause of illness.

A meditation to heal the emotional balance will assist you during this process, practice it daily for best results.
Start by lying on your back or sitting comfortably in a lotus position. Make yourself as comfortable as possible. Close your eyes and pay attention to any unpleasant emotion in your body. Relax body and mind and release any  irrelevant thoughts that enter your mind at this time. when you sense an unpleasant sensation, give it caring attention. Embrace it, accept it, no matter how unpleasant it may be, until it subsides. By doing this, the mental energy is burned.
This is how your attention transmutes unpleasant emotions into inner peace. All that will be left are memories of the cause of your pain.

Write a list of all the unpleasant memories you have within you and work each one out in your daily meditations until they no longer cause you any pain.

Be proud of yourself for having the courage to process these emotions and healing them. Express gratitude for the renewed energy in your life which will bless you with abundance on every level of Being.

Remote Sacred Space

As you evolve on your spiritual path, your sensitivity will increase. You will need a quiet area where you can sit peacefully and calm your mind when necessary.

You should create your own very special place, away from the normal stresses of your everyday duties. This place must provide you with a feeling of peace and serenity, regardless of where it is situated. It could be a spot in your garden, or even an area in a nearby park. It can be purely imaginary.  Should you imagine it, make certain that it is the same image that comes up every time you need to enter it.

Once you have your imaginary place, make it your own by filling it with your thoughts and feelings.
Take all the time you need to do this. Where ever you have created your sanctuary, make sure that you have its image fixed in your mind so that you may go there whenever you need to, and where ever you are.

Learn to Relax

After a long working day, dealing with many people and energies, many of which may not be positive or favourable to your inner peace, it is essential to find your centre through meditation.

Create your winding down routine by lighting a candle, incense stick and relaxing meditation music, to set the mood to one of relaxation and raising your consciousness.

Allow yourself this time out, you deserve it!
Go to your special place, where no one will disturb you for a few minutes. Lie down or sit comfortably, close your eyes and focus on your breathing while listening to the sounds around you.
Visualise yourself inside a bubble of protective light, which insulates you from all harm. You are safe.

Concentrate on your body and identify any areas of tension, and try to relax each one in turn. Imagine that warm, relaxing water flows over your body, from the head down, relaxing each muscle as it goes down the entire body. Repeat the process several times until you feel that the body feels relaxed and tension washes away.

As thoughts filter through to your mind, allow them to slip by without focusing on them, concentrate on your body and its comfort, as well as your breathing.

Spend around ten minutes on this exercise daily and you will find that your personal power increases as well as your focus and decision-making abilities.
Namaste!

Learning Acceptance

In order to practice acceptance, one needs to cease the interior conflict with reality.
It is pointless to fight with reality when situations are underway.

That which is in process of Being, will continue to Be, even against your will.

Acceptance is different to conforming or lack of action on one's part. If it is in your power to improve a situation, do it, but it is preferable to do it from a place of peace.

Your actions will be more appropriate and there will not be any suffering on your part.
If it is out of your control to improve the situation, then accept it for what it is. No internal discomfort on your part will diffuse the reality or bring any benefit to you whatsoever.

Meditation and your dreams

Meditation and your dreams

The powers of attention learned in meditation, make the dream experiences more vivid and memorable.
Meditation opens you up to the deeper levels of the unconscious, from which the dreams arise.

If you wish to explore your dreams, keep a journal by your bedside and write down your dreams as soon as you are awake. This action tells your unconscious that you wish to take your dreams and their messages seriously and recall them each morning.
The recurring themes provide the most revealing information. The meaning of the symbols such as the common ones like a chair, a key etc may be obvious but others may be more puzzling.

Identify a strong or recurrent symbol and try to discover its meaning by writing down the words you associate with it in a circle around the symbol. Then see which word connects most closely with it. Ask your unconscious to be your guide.

We are Spiritual Beings living a Physical Experience

We are Spiritual Beings living a Physical Life

We chose to incarnate now because it was our choice to experience a physical life on Earth, so it is in our best interests to enjoy the ride.

We are in our physical bodies with all the limitations and challenges a physical experience brings, because our souls have lessons to learn that only a physical life can provide. Spiritual Beings are in a place which has no limitations of time and space but here on Earth, we are subject to the world of duality, where we are faced with opposing emotions to help us appreciate the lighter side; we truly appreciate the value of light when we have experienced darkness. Going through this experience, gives us the opportunity to truly be spiritual Beings having a physical experience.

In the spiritual realm there is no pain because the sense of separateness is not present but on the physical plane, our sense of separation from All That Is allows us to feel our emotions and to learn about compassion, love and forgiveness. We thus learn to understand ourselves through our relationships with others around us as well as the world, we learn that every season has its blessings and challenges just like people.
Through experiencing diversity we learn to find our place in the universe and our connectedness to the grand scheme of things.

Personal Altar

A personal altar can be a reminder to yourself that you need to take some time for serenity on a daily basis.

It does not have to be a complicated task to complete nor does it have to have a religious or dogmatic belief behind it that does not relate to you. It can be an expression of your current focus as it acts as a silent reminder for you to access your centre and re-charge daily.

An altar is essentially a raised structure that holds meaningful objects for you to reflect on, or a place for contemplation and if you wish, for ritual.
With a little creativity and intuition you can easily build your altar. Whether indoors or outdoors, your altar will have the energy you place in its creation and will serve you well as a battery for you to draw energy from regularly.

Spend regular time at your "happy place" and forget about the daily challenges as you immerse yourself in the vibe of your altar space, it is your special place and try to have uninterrupted sessions just as you do for regular meditations.
It is your sacred time.

Animal Messengers

Animals always have a message for us, so start noticing when they appear in your life.
Animals have their own abilities and gifts that enable them to interact successfully with the natural world, and this ability can be useful to show us different ways to deal with our challenges.

As we examine a challenge, we may look outside and our eyes will notice a bird in the sky; that is a sign or message that we need to look at our challenge from a higher perspective or try to place ourselves in the observer position instead of taking an active participant stance. If the solution is not immediately visible, we need to be aware that the universe has its own sense of timing for solutions and the more we push for a solution, the harder the challenge will become. We should then release the outcome into the hands of the universe and trust that the animal spirit will bring the required inspiration our way. A bird taking small steps in front of us may bring the message that we should take baby steps towards our goal instead of giant, blind leaps which may lead to a disastrous fall. A representation of an animal or a dream will be just as effective as seeing the animal in the flesh.

By being themselves, the universe uses them to remind us of its wisdom, and that all answers are available to us when we reconnect with our inner core and Source, to take access to all that is. Namaste!

Positive Focus

When we meditate, be it passive or active, we reach a deeper level of awareness, one that enables us to shed stress, anxiety and other negative thought processes. We then direct our focus to the place we are occupying in the universe, in the present moment. We can thus find our way back to our centre and ground ourselves.
You will feel whole and balanced after a good meditation.

Forgive Yourself

Finding acceptance for the things that we perceive as wrong can be a mammoth task to most of us, but dwelling in guilt can be like going through life with a heavy rock tied to your feet.

Feeling guilty and being hard on oneself is the easy way out and a short-term
solution. Try to observe your life through an attitude of compassion and analyse your actions with hindsight and the result will be that perhaps your actions were guided by outside pressures that were beyond your control and you therefore made choices in the heat of the moment. Dwelling in negative feelings will only make you feel worse. Forgiving yourself will transform and heal any resentment, and negative emotions about the past.
It is important to learn from past actions as experience and a lesson learned are valuable tools to use in future situations.

Navel Meditation

Navel Meditation
Navel meditation may be done by a beginner as you focus your breath on your belly area and your breathing.
During our journey seeking evolution, the sure way to have a steady progress is to begin in a basic and uncomplicated manner.

This meditation was created by the Taoist tradition and the oldest form of meditation recognised in India and China. Although it is used by experienced people, it is also a good introductory meditation for beginners. It uses the natural rhythms of the breath and the regular movement of the abdomen as a means to focus awareness and rid oneself of extraneous thoughts. As your mind starts to focus on the breath, the tumult within reveals itself, allowing the person to train the mind to accept peace as its natural state of mind.

To begin, sit comfortably; either cross-legged on a cushion on the floor or on a chair with your legs facing forward. Maintaining an upright, balanced posture, will ensure that you are physically centred and prevent fatigue. Close your eyes and gradually relax your body, starting at the toes and going upwards to end at the crown of the head. Take a moment to note any physical sensations you are feeling, such as the hardness of the floor under you, or the weight of a piece of jewellery you're wearing, such as a watch. When you are relaxed, breathe through the nose at your natural pace. With each inhalation, draw air deep into the abdomen, allowing the area surrounding the navel to rise and fall. Gradually focus your attention on the sensations caused by the inhalation and exhalation of breath. Feel the air flowing in and out of the nostrils as well as the expansion and contraction of the abdomen. If you find it difficult to concentrate on both sensations, concentrate only on the movement of the navel area.

You may notice that your mind strays. When this occurs, do not attach any significance to your thoughts. Simply bring the attention back to breath, as it flows in and out of the body, and the movement of the navel. The amount of mental chatter will eventually slow down to a trickle, and you will learn to control your thoughts until you are no longer at the mercy of your reactions. the more you practice this meditation, the more you will be able to get back to this relaxed state easily throughout the day.

Liberate Yourself

Your  personal space is a reflection of your inner state of Being.
Physical clutter is said to be connected to mental clutter, it can be beneficial to get rid of unwanted objects thereby releasing emotional and stressful baggage. It also turns the home into a blissful sanctuary that nurtures the soul each time we return to it for that much needed solace.

Cleansing the home space in this way, makes you feel renewed and determined to arrange personal belongings in a spiritually enriching way.
The home, like your mind, becomes a repository for energy that invigorates you.
Letting go of possessions that don't contribute to your emotional well-being will make you feel nurtured in your personal space.

Intentions

Feeling Stuck in your life? If you are ready to allow in the winds of change, let the Universe know of your intention.
Get clarity on which part of your life you wish to change, then be specific in your declaration to the Universe by writing it on a sheet of paper and placing it in your special place of meditation, an altar if you have one, or in your wish box.

Set aside a time slot daily for you to spend it energizing your intent like a mantra, repeating it like a message to the Universe that you are ready for this change and have your arms open to welcome the new into your life.

It is always a good plan to ask the Universe for what works in alignment with your highest good and to be patient when awaiting results, as the energy may have blockages which must be released before your wishes manifest. This is also termed Divine Timing and must always be respected.

Watch for signs of action which must be undertaken by you to bring about the outcome you desire. You must be an active participant in your life's journey. Then watch as the opportunities and offers are placed in your path to help you create the change you seek.

De-Cluttering For A New Beginning

De-clutter And Prepare for a New Beginning

People may cling to familiar objects because they have a fear of empty spaces if they get rid of them. Objects remind us of events in our lives when these objects were present, like a souvenir of past events. Memories will always be with us whether we have physical objects as reminders or not, however, by clinging to them, we become stuck in a rut and the energy in our personal space becomes stagnant.

Holding on to unnecessary possessions may be linked to pain, anger and resentment as a protection from having to face new challenges, but these will also prevent you from welcoming new things entering your life.

Make a conscious effort and decide to keep only the objects that bring you joy and that lift your mood if necessary.

This will lead to mental clarity as you learn to enjoy a more practical relationship to possessions and then positive changes will start to enter your life and you will have space to create the life that you desire.

Chakras - Colour meditation

Colour Meditation

Find a quiet place where you will not be disturbed for a few minutes.
Sit in a comfortable position with your back straight and take a few moments to quiet your mind.

Bring your focus to your breath, breathe deeply for four seconds, then hold your breath for four seconds and finally slowly exhale for four seconds. This will raise your vibration almost instantly, repeat the breathing exercise three times. Observe the air entering your body, bringing its life-giving oxygen to every cell, and then leaving, taking with it all distractions and irrelevant thoughts.

Now bring your focus to the chakras, placed in a line from the root to the crown and pulsing with your vital energy. Visualise each chakra in turn as a spinning wheel of colour. Spend a few minutes on each chakra, before moving to the next one.

1. Start by visualising the red circle of the root chakra and its grounding energy.  See the circle spinning faster and feel safe and secure in the power that connects you to the earth.
2. Move to the orange of the sacral chakra and as it spins, feel the love you feel for your true, inner self.
3. Visualise the bright yellow of the solar plexus chakra and allow it to clear out vibrations of jealousy, despair, anger, hatred, and any other negative emotions that you may have been holding onto. See it bathed in positive emotions of tranquillity, happiness and joy, which make the chakra move faster and brighter.
4. Now move to the rose colour of the heart chakra and focus on a feeling of unconditional love that asks for nothing in return.
5. Visualise the light blue of the throat chakra, drawing in and sending out true, harmonious  communication, linking you to all living creatures.
6. Move to the third eye chakra, situated in the brow, spinning in a vibrant deep indigo colour, and picture it vibrating to the rhythm of your calm, focused mind and body.
7. Now focus on the last one, the crown chakra, with its violet light in a circle of tranquillity, peace and oneness with the greater spirit.

Stand back, mentally, and watch all the chakras, spinning together in unity. Watch them restore balance to your body and mind, lighten your heart and open your spirit.
